About us
On October 29, 2018 at 9:25PM our son’s body came into this world, his soul already in heaven. The weight of that day has not left us. Holding our son while trying to reconcile the fact that he would never take a breath, never cuddle us, never cry felt impossible. Our faith kept us from descending into an emotional crisis – and – a Hope Box.
While waiting in the delivery room for the induction to take it’s course, a nurse brought us a Hope Box. A small, colorful photo box that would also change our lives forever. That gift helped us through the loss of Zechariah and spurred us to take up the ministry in California’s Central Valley.
Every year we raise funds to purchase and distribute Hope boxes to local hospitals. Since 2018 we’ve handed out close to twenty boxes to Kaiser where we delivered and kicked off a ministry at our local Sutter hospital.
In 2021 we moved cross country and set down new roots in Texas near the heart of the Hope Mommies movement. We are working on developing new relationships and partnerships with local hospitals to continue this minisitry.
To date, we’ve raised funds for over 90 boxes that we continually distribute to hospital near and far, churches, and those who have a loved one reach out to us directly.

History
Zechariah’s Passing
2018 – At a routine pre-natal appointment on Friday October 26th, 2018 the doctor couldn’t find a heartbeat. On October 29th at 9:25PM we brought him into the world – his soul in heaven.
First Hope Box Collection
Dec 2018- After sharing with family about the hope we found from receiving a Hope Box, family sent us donations to the cause. We added in our donations and collected our first 5 Hope Boxes and started a ministry at Tracy Community Hospital.
First Hope Box Gathering
2019 – One year after Zechariah passed and we received the hope box, we held our first gathering raising enough funds to put together 16 Hope Boxes.
Second Hope Box Gathering
2020 – In our second Box Gathering we were blessed with an outpouring resulting in 27 Hope Boxes being donated!
Third Hope Box Gathering
2021 – In a new home and a new state we are embarking on partnerships with new hospitals! We will open our Box Gathering soon.
Hope Mommy Gala
In celebration of ten years of ministry the Hope Mommies organization is holding a gala. We are very lucky and honored to be so close and able to attend. God works wonders in our lives!
Hope Mommies
Hope Mommies was founded by Erin and Blair Cushman following the passing of their daughter in 2010. It is a Christian outreach ministry sending hope and support around the country to grieving moms and families.
